Video Games are becoming more and more a way of life instead of an activity to do for entertainment. Every year more conventions, award shows and even TV programs are made for PC Games, Arcade Games, Computer Games, and Console Games. Video Game Development budgets are growing while the pressure to meet the standards of the public and the competition increase exponentially. I bring all this up because of the upcoming event: E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo. E3 is the largest video game convention in the states. Many developers and publishers spend a large amount of time gearing up for this press-only show. Big names like Blizzard are almost literally buried in people trying to get a glimpse or a demo of their latest games. But this is more than just a large advertising forum, there are also keynote speakers every year that talk about what has happened in the year and what is yet to come in the industry. With technology like video cards getting more and more advanced it is allowing a developer to have more to work with in terms of what can be done within hardware limitations. All this means that the gaming industry is an explosion with no slow to progress foreseeable in the near future. This is good news for gamers and people who want to get into the very competitive industry.
While the GameTruth Team has to sit E3 out this year we will be following several other sites and looking for interesting info that other sites may look over or deem unimportant. Some of the games we are looking forward too are: Guild Wars, World of WarCraft, Halo 2, Star Wars: Battlefront, Star Wars: Republic Commando, and Call of Duty: United Offensive. GameTruth will be adding articles and all sorts of video game information about these games and others slated to be shown at E3. Besides software being announced at E3 Alienware is promising a revolution to the way we game on high end PCs. This may very well be considered the Golden Age of Gaming, but I hope in the future we look back and see this as the dark ages.
For more information check the E3 site. Also we will be opening a thread in the forum just about what transpires at E3.
