Well it has been a lull in our sites updates while we were getting the new site launched and now we are back on track. I read the other day on slashdot.org that scientist's were working on a program or game that was controlled by a subject brain waves. The advancement this would cause in remote control projects and prosthesis is amazing, and to think that the next generation or consoles could be controlled by your mind.
Anyway lots of stuff is happening here, as we are moving forward with several projects at once. Because of the “Make Something Unreal” contest game maps and mods have flooded the scene in the last weeks giving players all sort of new game play experiences. Also there is a date set for the release of Doom 3, take from that what you will because for years Doom 3 has been considered “Vaporware.” Also summer is a great time for gamers. Not so we can stay in all day while it's nice outside but because most kids can get a summer job and have some left over cash. This means that lots of big releases come out during the summer and early fall. Halo 2 is still slated to come out late summer and everyone still waits for Half-Life 2. This summer could be huge for the gaming industry after the merge of G4 and Tech TV to form one network. Then again that merge may tank both stations, only time will tell.
Another big thing lately is hardware. A few weeks ago the newest graphics cards were shown and those beasts are powerful. Second Alienware has released it video array and ALX line of products. The video array uses a special motherboard with an Intel processor to use 2 video cards at the same time, one controlling the top half of the screen the other controlling the bottom. This grants a 50% increase in speed and refresh of the video cards but if it is worth the price is up to you. ALX is a luxury class computer from Alienware and it has its own large set of pluses that would make you want to pay for a luxury computer that costs almost 6 grand. With water-cooling and some of the priciest components every devised for PC it may be worth the dough for those who need the best of the best. Another of the newest innovations is the PCI express offering faster data transfer from PCI cards to motherboards. Alienware also has incorporated this into their rigs but expect to see them mainstream soon. The hardware for much more advanced games is out there, we are just waiting for one to test the limit.
